New Clear Block Storage Idea

As you all know by now Stampin' Up! has gone to having two options for stamps. You can either select to have the wood stamps or select Acrylic mount stamps. The Acrylic blocks are available in a vast array of sizes that you can select to match the stamps. You can order the size that you will need for certain stamps or you can order the entire set of acrylic blocks which, of course are reusable for all the acrylic stamps - duh!

I decided I wanted a creative way to store my Acrylic blocks so that they would be readily available, protected from damage and easily identifiable. I had some large empty stamp boxes on hand and used some Tombo multi adhesive and put some Designer Series Paper in the box in the shape of each block and marked each with the letter for the block - then I will know where each block goes and if any are missing. I did CASE this idea from Ala Pause, however with some minor changes. She used plain cardstock and I used DSP. LOVE IT!!!!!

Just a footnote - I have had acrylic blocks in the past, not of the same quality as Stampin' Up!, however, they were stored in a ziploc baggie and are very scratched - they do still work however are rather unsightly so I felt this was the best way to protect my investment with my Stampin' Up! blocks.

I want to thank Darla my upline for so much fun today!! I have been here in Tucson visiting my daughter and grand daughter. I was really getting tired of the SNOW (piling deeper and deeper at home so I planned a little get away for a month with my daughter in Arizona)Darla found out I was here and we made plans! So, today I helped her with her blog and then we got to stamp too!!! Helping with Darla's blog was not part of the plan for today! Way Past Time to Update You on My Work!

I've been doctoring family lately and needless to say DH is not a nice patient. He had cataract surgery plus glaucoma surgery on March 27. Actually, the surgery was a complete success, however, he is not thinking it is healing fast enough to suit him. I think we all expect more of our bodies than we sometimes should - and when you get old.................. well, you hate to admit it, but I think things take a little longer.. Then to top it all off he caught the WORST cold in the whole wide world so he has NOT been a HAPPY CAMPER.

I know it is kind of late in the year to be working on calendars, but....that's kinda how I work.... Last year I think I finally did the last four months of the year in a CD calendar - this year I did better - I actually got started at the beginning of the year, however January and February were nothing to brag about, but they are getting better as the year wears on - I'll have to tell you that I just had to use the multi-colored stars on the July calendar - I hope you can see them. I remember buying them as a young girl. I found them in my mother's desk. Still had the price tag on them - 15 cents!!!!! They are not only gummed but also embossed. Really cute - never find anything like that now!

I know the pictures are a little off - someday I will learn how to work this!!!!!

The FIRST picture is one that I know my son and his dad will be real proud that I actually posted. They made me something to put all my ribbon on. The top roll is for BIG rolls and the bottom roll is for small rolls. All of my "cardmaker" daughters want one JUST LIKE IT!!!!!! I had to beg for mine for quite a while and I love it. I'll have to get a price, huh?

Christening Card

In keeping with my promise to myself to do more cards and more posting this year I found a really cute template today for a dress for a baby at Stampington & Company. Since our niece recently had a baby girl I can imagine we should be having a Christening soon and I will need a card for that. So I printed out the template for the dress onto Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out. Then copied it onto vellum and used Versamark and white embossing powder on the vellum, with good old SU Baroque Motifs stamp. Then used a ribbon from SU which unfortunately was retired, 7/8" white organdy ribbon. So what do you think? I think it is quite feminine.

A peek into my Stampin Room

A couple of years ago for our wedding anniversary my husband did the nicest thing for me. He made my closet full of shelves to store all my stamps and accessories. Now if I could just get them all back in there again. Thought you all would enjoy seeing what he had done.

He never realized at the time how much this would help me to get organized, but it has been VERY helpful to me. Have to do a little picking up and then I will show you more of my stampin' room. lol

The day I didn't want to come has come and gone and with the help of one of my friends will be quite memorable. The lady who made my cake used to be an over the road truck driver and due to some major health problems became disabled and was no longer able to drive trucks (as in SEMIS) so she needed to find another occupation. At the time I was teaching Wilton Method Cake Decorating Classes and she was really my STAR student!!! As you can see by the above picture, she learned her lessons VERY well. I told her to bake me a cake for my birthday (in a kidding manner - just a plain cake - she makes a SCRUMPTIOUS carrot cake) But I NEVER expected to get something like this. Plus she sent flowers as well. Who could have a better friend than that???? So like it or not I guess I will always remember my 60th birthday, for sure!

Well this is Really something I never expected, but it came in the mail today - the day before my birthday......not one I'm really looking forward to. 60 just sounds SO old - oh my! Funny, I don't feel that old mentally, just physically. lol! Now I have an excuse to change my business cards. I was really impressed too - it is actually signed by Shelli Gardner! Our Leader!!!!! and not just a rubber stamp either - doesn't take much to impress me, huh?

I did apply to be on the Design Team for a new stamp company called Elemental Doodles. They have some REALLY neat things. I have been asked to be a guest designer for them and I am REALLY looking forward to that!!!! Our Daily Bread Sympathy Card

We just found out last night that our neighbor of MANY years had passed away and I was REALLY shocked when my husband asked me to make the family a card. He thinks I just "play" with all these rubber stamps and never do anything with them. I think he will be shocked when he sees what I have done. I'm pretty proud of it. I think it turned out pretty well. I used my favorite "Our Daily Bread Designs" stamps from the "Flourished Christian Symbols" set. I find that is really my 'go to' set for happy times and sad. It is such a PRETTY set.

In keeping with my promise to myself to keep this up better this year - thought I would give you all an idea for Valentine's day - albeit my Valentine's Day card I sent out last year. Christmas always seems to come too fast and all my children were complaining that they did not get one of my pretty Christmas cards I made last year and I made a lot. So instead of sending them Christmas cards I sent them all Valentine's - they were fairly easy to do - just a lot of parts, but I think they all enjoyed them. Course if mom sticks money in them, they are really enjoyed I know. Isn't that the way it always works, no matter how old the kids are. LOL!

OK - one of my resolutions this year is to post more to my blog and to be more creative so hopefully I can keep this up at least weekly. Anything would be better than what I did last year.
Course I was gone for almost a month in November and early December to Arizona - I want to go back!!!!!!!!!!! The weather down there was SOOOOOO nice - did not have to worry about all this below zero stuff we have - oof!!!! Nuff of that!!!!

I have been somewhat creative lately - I made a card for our pastor for Christmas - she does so much and still does not take a full salary so I decided she really needed some recognition for this. So I did it with a card. I follow "Amazing Paper Grace" and got a lot of inspiration from her for this card (the ribbon) I knew she would add a ribbon to it - she probably would have added more, but I'm just a beginner, really.

Just wanted to wish you all a very happy and blessed new year!!!!!!

Well you will have to forgive me for being so long in between posts, but I was away for awhile. In Arizona. Hated to come back to the cold and actually would gladly go back. Our weather has been terrible. Seems like we have had SNOW everyday since I got home from Arizona on December 2. I did get a few cards made but have been so busy since I got home I haven't gotten any mailed. Shame on me. I'm hoping everyone will understand.

My daughter had a tumor on her pituitary gland and had surgery so I stayed with her while she recuperated. I have to admit she did very well - probably did not need my help, but - we did get a lot closer during this time, so that was good too.

Here's sending you all greetings for the holidays and blessings for your merriest Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.

I can’t begin to tell you how long it actually took me to cut out this word!! Opps, sorry, can’t do that!!! I didn’t have to cut a thing except for the Silver Elastic Cord and the cardstock! Woo hoo!!! This card features a new product in the Holiday Mini called the “On Board Trinkets Ornaments Kit” found on page 14. It contains 6 sheets of 9” by 9” chipboard with various words, images and shapes, along with 6 sheets of Designer Series Paper which are die cut to match the chipboard images! I will tell you, when I first saw it, I didn’t realize the Designer Series Paper was die cut, so I was really surprised when I opened my package. Now, while they are designed to be used an ornaments, they can also be used on a card as I have done here, on a scrapbook page, or even a tag for a gift! They are so easy, well, it’s kind of embarrassing – that’s how easy they are to make!

First of all I want to welcome you to my new blog. This will definitely be a learning experience for me. You may need to bear with me at times while I learn how all this works. Now for a little about me..........

I am married to a wonderful gentleman (my fourth husband) but it's all good! Between the two of us we have 7 - yes, count them - SEVEN children - six girls and 1 boy. Poor thing, he would have loved a brother I am sure, but..................actually, I think he enjoys being the only boy!!! Our children range in age from 40 to 29 so they are actually all grown and have children of their own. Little kids -- little problems - Big kids -- big problems. But we manage. My husband is an Automatic Transmission Mechanic and I am retired on Social Security Disability and a Stampin' Up Demonstrator plus a Wilton Method Instructor, however, currently not teaching.
